Excluding self erecting cranes and using conventional tower crane

A speedy construction was completed of a three story health centre project in Ohio for a university project. It was done by excluding the use of used self erecting tower cranes and using the conventional tower crane for the construction of the project. At first the contractor was using two self erecting potain cranes which were causing delay in the construction of the project. When the head engineer of the project realized that using the self erecting cranes will cause much more delay in the project he decide to go for the conventional crane which helped in speeding up the construction of the project.

The conventional tower crane that was used in the construction of the project was having a maximum load of 6.6ton. The project total cost was around USD 16.5 million for the housing and pharmacy programs that were to be conducted at the university. With this much of maximum load the engineer could have also used a used mobile tower cranes.  The two self erecting cranes were rented by the contractor which turned out to be not so good a decision because in the end the engineer has to turn up to the traditional tower crane which increased the cost of the project.
