A day with not much success

While we were busy in our day to day work we received 3 inquiries in our member’s inbox in just a span of 10 to 15 minutes. One of the inquiries was from a Trading company in Bangladesh which was looking for used mobiletower crane. It was more of an irrelevant inquiry for us because the inquiry had nothing do with the product our member’s company manufacture; hence the inquiry was transferred to another company from China which deals in used construction machinery. The second inquiry was from a buyer from Kenya which was looking for a relatively small tower crane.

The specification of tower crane he was requiring was not of a crane that we cannot manufacture or was beyond our manufacturing capacity. It was for a crane that falls under our manufacturing capacity and one of our crane models was quite suitable to the requirement of the buyer. The buyer required a tower crane of height about 35m, jib length 45-50m, tip load 1 ton and a maximum load of about 4-6 ton. The third inquiry we received from a construction company in Oman which was looking for used self erecting tower cranes. We quoted him the best price for his requirement of used self erecting tower cranes because he seemed like a very potential buyer.

Buyer for tower crane control station

Today received an inquiry about used self erecting tower crane and control station, which is used to control the boom length of the tower crane. This inquiry was from a buyer from Pakistan, this buyer was a dealer of tower cranes. Their main business is to sale tower crane to large construction companies in the country. And renting out tower cranes as well to the companies dealing with small projects or whose tenure of the project is less. Buyer provided us with pictures of the control station he was looking for and said that he needs something of that type.

The issue was that the specific control station which the buyer was looking was not available at our factory and we had to arrange it from somewhere. The company which we contacted for that particular product delayed in providing the quotation and has not yet provided us with the quotation. They backed out in the end by saying that they didn’t have that particular part of tower crane we are looking for. Resulting in spoiling our relation with the buyer and provided a negative image for our company.  We didn’t want this to happen because this dealer not only deals in tower cranes but also deals in used mobile tower crane as well.

Tender to look forward for

While I was winding up all my work at day end yesterday just saw a pop up from trade mate. There was a person visiting my members Web DHS. This person was from Pakistan; he provided his contact details and stated the conversation with us. When asked that what type of tower crane he was looking for, he replied that he was looking for a hydraulic crane at first that gave us an impression that he is looking for used self erecting tower cranes but that was cleared to us later on when he sent us the tender regarding his requirement.
We asked him to mail us the details of the cranes he was looking for. He communicated to us that his requirement was for a tender from a large oil and gas distribution company in Pakistan. This company whose representative mailed us the tender was an intending company from Pakistan which was going to bid for us in the tender for that particular company in which that tender has recently arrived. After thoroughly studying the detailed tender we came to knew that what the actual requirement of the company was for usedmobile tower crane. This seemed like a really good potential to us because in this way we can penetrate in to the concentrated Pakistani market as well.

Working on a tender

For the past few days have I have been working on inquiries for used self erecting tower cranes, tower cranes and other construction related machinery. But yesterday morning got an email from a buyer with whom I was in contact with from the past few weeks in order to participate in a Bangladesh Navy tender. Although a large amount of details were provided to this buyer regarding our company and the crane we were offering to him but still he some query that needed our immediate attention.

The mail was regarding the authorization letter which we emailed him earlier, but this time he asked us to print the authorization letter content mentioning that our company has authorized his company in Bangladesh to participate in this tender on our behalf. He wanted this letter to be printed on our company letter head duly signed and stamped. For fulfillment of this need of his all the details in this regards have been forwarded to the concerned authority and just waiting for a reply from their side so the details can be forwarded to the company in Bangladesh. Other than this query of his he has some serious requirements for used mobile tower crane as well.

Buying Request from Indian Buyer

After the two days off Monday is always a tough day at the office. There were inquiries from trade mate on my members profile for used mobile tower crane and tower cranes. As used mobile tower crane is not offered by my member so tower crane inquiry was the one I was focusing on. This buyer mentioned the maximum weight for tower crane he was looking for but did not mention other technical specifications that are required from buyer’s side. The contact details and the email address that was provided by the buyer he seemed to be a good potential one.
As few of his technical specification were missing so decided to give him a call and ask for the details so that we can quote him the price according to his requirement. What he basically required was a usedself erecting tower cranes but as we do not deal in used tower cranes so convinced him on the benefits of getting a new one. He provided us with his detail specification for self erecting type tower crane and asked for FOB price and CIF price to Calcutta, India. His details have been forwarded to our dealer in India and he would be contacting the buyer for further details.

An unexpected call

Today at around 5:30am in the morning received a call from a buyer of Malaysia with whom we were previously in contact with regarding used mobile tower crane but as my member does not offer this product so I informed her that we do not have mobile tower cranes. Immediately she mentioned about an inquiry for a tower crane of a German brand she also mentioned the model and other technical specifications of that tower crane and asked for other services related to the installation and maintenance of the crane. I asked her to email me all the details.

When I reached the office I immediately checked my inbox, from last week there was a pending inquiry for used selferecting tower cranes. That was certainly of no interest to me and to my member. When I strolled down I found an email from the Malaysian dealer containing all the details regarding the inquiry of the tower crane she was mentioning about. When I mentioned all the details to my member he said that the closest to this specification we can offer her is QTZ 7030, which does not fulfill all their specification but is close enough to what they require.

A Turkish Buyer

In the afternoon received an instant message on Skype from my member. He was talking about a customer who has visited our booth at Bauma Shanghai 2012. He had an inquiry for used self erecting tower cranes and for tower cranes. I decided to contact the customer and inform him that we can only cater his requirement for tower crane. Because we do not manufacture self erecting tower cranes. Products that we manufacture include tower cranes, luffing cranes and topless tower cranes. Tried to call him just before the lunch time but the contact was not established because he was not answering his phone.

After the lunch time called him again at 3pm and this time the call was connected. The buyer seemed very happy about his meeting that they had our booth at Bauma Shanghai 2012. He also mentioned a Chinese distributor through which he has purchased a used mobile tower crane recently. He said that he was very much satisfied with the way Chinese were dealing with him and that’s what motivated him to purchase a tower crane also from a Chinese manufacturer on the basis of his past experience with the Chinese. So we took his required specification for tower crane and are waiting for the quotation so that we can sent it to the buyer.

Brazil a potential market

For days we were looking for buyers from Brazil for used self erecting tower cranes, tower cranes and other construction equipments. Finally our search was over when we received an inquiry from my member side. He mailed me an inquiry from Brazil which seemed a very potential inquiry. The buyer seemed like a potential buyer because in his inquiry he provided all the details and specification of the tower crane that he was looking for.  He mentioned all the details such as; height, Jib Length, Tip load and maximum weight all the details that are required to quote the buyer for a suitable model of tower crane.

When the contact was made to the buyer he seemed very positive regarding our offer and our company’s offering. He had already gone through our product catalogue and was quite impressed with our offerings to them. He not only discussed with us regarding his requirement for tower cranes but also mentioned about his requirements for used mobiletower crane. He also discussed with us the potential for construct equipment manufacturers in Brazil because of the heavy infrastructure development going on in the country. He also mentioned one of his old dealers in China who he buys all the construction related equipment, and if this deal goes on well with him he might consider us for his future requirements for construction machinery and tower cranes.

Irrelevant inquiries increasing problems

Today started of my day by opening my outlook and checking my mails. At the start of the day saw an inquiry from my member regarding usedself erecting cranes which was certainly of no interest to me because it wasn't relevant to the product my member is offering. Still wasn’t clear why my member has forwarded me that particular inquiry of a buyer.  It is something that has been happening for the past few days that irrelevant inquiries has been coming to me for the past few days from my member and I was not getting that why is he doing this when he knows that has nothing to do with our product.

Another irrelevant inquiry that I received today was for usedmobile tower crane which is certainly not relevant to my product once again. When I discussed this thing with my member he made me knew that recently he has set an auto inquiry sender against my mail address that whenever an inquiry relevant to our keyword appears on the portal it is automatically transferred to by inbox. Because of which I was getting a lot of irrelevant inquiries. But the advantage for this is that at times we get some very good potential inquiries as well.

The man with an attitude

Today when I started my day by logging in to my member’s inbox looking for any new inquiries found some new inquiries regarding used self erecting tower cranes and some related to tower cranes as well. One interesting inquiry that was encountered by me was from a buyer of Pakistan. I was expecting such an inquiry because from few days a visitor from Pakistan was continuously coming to our website and was checking the different models of tower cranes, luffing cranes, topless tower cranes that we have.

This buyer from Pakistan placed an inquiry for a very big tower crane which is usually not expected from a buyer usually coming from Pakistan. And the height he required for the tower crane exceeded the height we had for luffing crane. So I decided to call him in order to ask that if he was fine if we quote him for a luffing crane of maximum height 180 meters instead of 250 meters. We could have quoted him for used mobile tower cranes, because we were having mobile cranes similar to that specification.  Nevertheless  when I called him he was very rude and did not replied to any of my answers properly still because he seemed to be a potential buyer belonging from a good company from Pakistan I decided to send him the quotation. I guess this is one of the lessons you have to learn as time passes by dealing with different types of buyers with different moods. But what one more thing that I think could be a possibility is that these people has to deal with illiterate labor class on daily basis, so they eventually looses the ethics to differentiating between a literate person and an  illiterate one.

Bangladesh a hidden market

In the past few days searching for buyers for tower crane, used self erecting tower cranes, luffing cranes and other construction related equipments. Found some very potential buyers coming up from Bangladesh.  In the past not a very large amount of buyers came from countries like Srilanka or Bangladesh.  But in the past few days there are a lot of buyers coming up from this region. Recently have found some very good potential buyers from these regions and some prospect deals are on its way. We are having very high hopes from these deals and expect that one of these deals will eventually close out.

The best thing about these buyers coming up from Bangladesh is that they don’t have any particular requirements for a particular category of construction related machinery. It has requirements for all the different types of construction related machinery. A great example of this is a buyer which I found last month in October with whom negotiations are in progress for two different models of tower crane the same buyer today provided us with an inquiry on used mobile tower crane. So what all these details highlight is that currently Bangladesh is a very potential market for construction related equipment manufacturers.
